Life as a Princess (really is a lot of work)

I'm sure that is how Miss Brooklynn sees things in her life - if she could only talk she would probably go on and on about how rough it can be! She is definitely getting closer and closer to the wonderful 'TERRIBLE 2's" - I can already see it. We've already started working on time outs in the corner - she thinks its the funniest thing ever! When you try to catch her to change her diaper, put her in her high chair or anything else - she takes off running full speed ahead in the opposite direction and giggling non-stop. She is into anything and everything she can get her little hands on. And when you get the first thing away from her, she is already into the next thing in the next room!

She is definitely giving us a run for our money - but we wouldn't change it for anything. She really is a lot of fun - and so full of character - she has us cracking up non-stop. So naturally the other day when I came across this pink tutu at Marshall's - I knew she just HAD to have it. I thought it would be cute for down the road when she is bigger (the smallest size they had was size 6) but as I was going through her closet today, I took it out and decided to try it on her just for laughs - and guess what?? It actually fit! How does a size 6 fit my almost 17 month old child??? I was so excited b/c I knew she would love wearing it with her necklaces and bracelets....and what cute pics I could get! So today she got to be a little princess - and boy did she live up to the name! I managed to get a few cute pics of her - long gone are the days where she would smile on command.....now I am just happy for her to be looking at the camera...lol.

In other news, we have also enrolled Brooklynn in Gymboree classes - they are every Saturday morning for 45 mins each. At first, I was worried that 45 mins wouldn't be long enough, but now I know better. Its 45 mins b/c it wears the parents out!!! Talk about a work out - you are constantly chasing your kid around a room full of stuff for them to climb, jump, swing, slide, balance and walk on - I am ready for nap time by the time the class is over! Its a lot of fun and Brooklynn loves it and it definitely helps her burn more of her boundless energy. The only downfall is that she now thinks that EVERYTHING is meant to be climbed on around the house....never a dull moment!

hair-do - she thought it was hilarious - and

she couldn't even see it!!! What a ham!!

Now I Get It!!!

Well this title says it all. Yes I am sitting here at work when it finally hit me HOW to link to something with just the word showing. Yes I know - I am a little slow at figuring this out even with the help of several people trying to explain it to me - for some reason it just wasn't sinking in and I couldn't understand why. So like I said - I was literally sitting here at work doing work stuff and my brain is everywhere else but where it should be and it wandered over to the blog world and all of a sudden the light went off - I figured it out!!!!

So anyway....I finally get to post this really cute article I found a while back while playing around in blogland - I thought it was just so perfect and it helped me realize a lot of things about motherhood. I am fortunate enough that I don't suffer from any of my friends giving me a hard time about not making enough time for them, but I feel like I am stretched so thin sometimes trying to make everyone happy and make time for everyone - whether its spending an afternoon with someone, making a phone call, writing a long overdue email or whatever the case may be - there is just not enough time in the day for everyone and everything. I could never figure out how I am always so pressed for time when I have such an 'easy child'. She is for the most part not demanding, very easy going and just likes to hang out and play. This article made me realize why I still feel this way. I knew being a mother was going to be tough and it was going to be very demanding and I looked forward to it - but I had no idea how mentally draining it could be too. It really put into perspective everything we go through as parents and how challenging it is. So like my title says - "NOW I GET IT!!!!" I hope y'all enjoy the article as much as I did.....when I re-read it today - it still hits home. Of course - I wouldn't trade any of it for the world - being a mother has been the most amazing, fun-filled and hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I love every second of it! :)

Wild Wild West...

I'm sure some days at Brooklynn's daycare it may seem that way...haha!

For their spring pictures, her daycare decided to do a western theme in celebration of the rodeo thats going on right now. We just got them back today and I thought they were too cute not to share - especially for my friends & family up in the Great White North...hehehe - you can't get much more Texan than this!!!

Late last week I finally decided to get around to putting the rest of Brooklynn's pics into her albums - I have stacks of them from about 3 months onwards. I know - its sad that it was never been done but there's just not enough time in the day. Luckily my mom is still here visiting with us and she so graciously filled 3 more albums for me so now they are all in order and in their albums. Now I just have to send the last 5 months to get printed. Anyway - I came across some pics my mom mailed to me shortly after Brooklynn was born back from when I was a baby. I remember looking at them at that time and thinking that Brooklynn defintely reminded me of when I was first born - but now I took out the rest of the pics from when I was a toddler and compared those. Wow - it is shocking how many similarities there are. She defintely has a part of her daddy but I can defintely see me in her - especially now. I've included some pics (prob way too many but I just think its so much fun to compare) for you to be the judge. What do you think??

So anyway - those are the pics I thought really showed a strong resemblence to me as a baby. Its the neatest thing to be able to see yourself in one of your kids - I can only imagine what its like for my mom to be a Grandma (or anyone that is a Grandma.) Its like they get to re-live their own children's lives again but with a whole new perspective - getting to experience all the fun without having to do the dirty work this time around ;)
